These clubs which would be “of the youth, by the youth, for the youth” would help give a sense of responsible tourism in the country spearheaded by the youth.

Aims and Objectives

Shillong College Tourism Club, which is part of this campaign, aims to educate about the diverse cultures and geographies of the region, to highlight the importance of travel and tourism in education, to create tourism opportunities at an early stage, to promote responsible tourism practices and to train students for future prospects in the hospitality sector. The Club is headed by a member of the faculty and a student coordinator. Activities under the Club include an array of competitions, seminars, travel and tourism, tournaments, specialized tours etc. The Club also offers a convergence with National Missions such as Digital India Mission, Atmanirbhar Bharat and PM’s Mentoring YUVA Scheme.

The Club therefore, offers its members opportunities to interact with the different aspects of tourism and a chance to recognize the importance of sustainable tourism to preserve the country’s rich cultural heritage.
